Administrative history
Nobbs, and Valentine formed a partnership in 1944 after the death of Nobbs' long-time partner, George Taylor Hyde (1879-1944). The partnership lasted until 1950 when Valentine rejoined the Bell Telephone Company as chief architect. Nobbs et Valentine se sont associés en 1944 après le décès de George Taylor Hyde (1879-1944), associé de longue date de Nobbs. Cette association s'est maintenue jusqu'en 1950, année où Valentine est retourné au service de la société Bell à titre de premier architecte. In April 1947, Nobbs and Valentine, as requested by Reverend N.D. Pilcher, Rector of St. George’s Church, submitted plans and sections showing the existing fabric, and remarks on the state of the fabric, required operations, alterations and costs. In a letter dated May of the same year the rector replied that the church was overcome by the magnitude of the work suggested and that nothing very much was likely to be done at the time (N.D. Pilcher, Drummondville, to Percy Nobbs, Montreal, 27 May 1947, John Bland Canadian Architecture Collection, McGill University, Montreal).
