Dr. Michael McCulloch was born in Renfrewshire, Scotland in 1795. He studied medicine in Scotland before immigrating to Canada in 1822.
He settled in Montreal, where he taught obstetrics at McGill University. He was awarded an honorary M.D.,C.M. by McGill in 1843.
He owned Spring Grove Farm, which was eventually purchased by the Mount Royal Cemetery in 1852 and where he was laid to rest in 1854.
Transferred from McGill Medical Library which received the letters from Andrew McCulloch, c.f. MS. 544-38/65/G/2. Old accession number 29.
Fonds contains the correspondence of James Bruce, Lord Eighth Earl of Elgin, with Dr. Michael McCulloch concerning his wife's confinements.
