Hopes to see him in September. Few men from this side are going, but they are quality men. Positive comments on Hamman's work on Tuberculosis in Maryland. Meyer is his man for Phipps new psychiatric clinic. Cabot has had a good visit. Mentions that the Heart Section in Vol. IV is inferior to what Thayer could have written. He is disappointed that some sections are not quite up to date. Pratt's section is A.1. Civilities.

Mentions that they are keeping cheerful in spite of the Russian set back. Optimistic comments on the English army situation, but repeats that it will be a long affair. Germany is immensely powerful. France has done marvelously and is getting stronger. Mentions his interest in the cases of camp or trench nephritis. Details about a case he saw at Cliveden. He has got for his library which is booming, 35 reprints of Listers papers sent by Eodler, and Mansen's original Mosquito paper. Will probably have to return with Mrs. Osler and Revere on September 6th to go to Contrexeville to cure his renal calculus. That cancelled his proposed week in October at the Johns Hopkins.
